The 146th NAPA Convention, Cincinnati, Ohio

The 2024 Convention which will be held in the Cincinnati, Ohio area on July 18th–20th. We have arranged for our hotel stay at the Hampton Inn at 858 Eastgate North Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45245. (It is not far from where the 2002 Cincinnati Convention was held.)

The hotel is allowing us to use their meeting room for free. There is also free parking and hot breakfast. The room block will have a combination of rooms with a king-sized bed or two queen-sized beds. Rooms are $149 plus $20.49 tax per night. All rooms have a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a walk-in shower. There’s a pool and exercise room within the hotel. The website says it is pet friendly as well.

There is a Meijer (grocery/department store), Dunkin’ Donuts, Outback and Longhorn restaurants within walking distance. There are many other restaurants close by, as well as a Kroger, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and other shopping areas within a short driving distance.

We have arranged for a tour of the Cincinnati Type and Print Museum on Friday from 12:15 pm to 3 pm. It’s located in downtown Cincinnati, which will be about a 25-minute drive from the hotel.

Our speaker for the banquet will be Mr. Greg Hand. He is the proprietor of the “Cincinnati Curiosities” blog, Greg retired from the University of Cincinnati as associate vice president for public relations. Before his employment by the university, Greg was editor of the Western Hills Press in suburban Cincinnati. During his time at UC, he co-authored three books about the university with UC archivist Kevin Grace. In addition to his blog, Greg contributes regularly to Cincinnati Magazine and the WCPO-TV “Cincy Lifestyles” show. With Molly Wellmann and Kent Meloy, Hand presents history chats in bars and saloons through a program called “Stand-Up History.”

We are now concentrating on our banquet details. We will probably have the banquet in our meeting space and have it catered in, either by a catering company or a local restaurant. We are happy to take cuisine suggestions. If you have a suggestion, please send an email message to “Reception@AmateurPress.org”.

We are looking for at least one more activity for us to do. Suggestions are welcome. Please let us know your thoughts.

As always, we are looking forward to seeing all of our NAPA friends and family again soon.
